How our SHADOW can keep us from sharing our gifts and creativity
You may have heard about shadow work but what is it really and how does it affect our creativity and business?
Let me share this example that I uncovered in my own life recently.
Growing up as a pastor’s daughter I was always trying to do the right thing. The thing my family wanted me to do and be. But SUBCONSCIOUSLY, I felt was always being MANIPULATED. I felt like I was being used to make them look good. And I also felt they were manipulating others.
You might say the word MANIPULATION was a shadow word for me.
Because SUBCONSCIOUSLY I HATED feeling manipulated and I felt helpless, I tried to avoid being manipulated and also manipulating others at ALL COSTS. But I didn’t know I was doing this because these things are hidden in our subconscious.
WHAT THIS LOOKS LIKE IN REAL LIFE:
- I would avoid taking chances or judge opportunities for growth that cost money because I think they are trying to manipulate me
- I would avoid putting myself out there or being too “salesy” because I want to avoid being manipulative
- I would beat myself up if I talk too much about myself or my work
- I would feel like no one wants to see my authentic self and feel helpless
